GOOBIES, N.L. – Engineered Wetland Solutions Ltd. (EWS) is proposing to operate a nursery for growing Canadian reed plants for wetland treatment systems in Goobies.
The development, which would also include a laydown area, has been registered for an environmental assessment with the Department of Municipal Affairs and Environment.
The plants will be grown in plant cells raised off the ground in a greenhouse tunnel, according to an environment assessment bulletin issued by the department on July 13.
The development will involve clearing land and installing the required equipment. Operations will consist of the propagation of the plants from cuttings of existing plant stock, growing plants and shipping plants to related projects.
The deadline for public comments is Aug. 16, and the minister’s decision is due by Aug. 26.
