LABRADOR CITY, NL – Add another potential microbrewery to the growing list of craft beer producers aiming to operate in the province.

Iron Rock Brewing Company Ltd. is proposing to establish a 120 litre brewhouse in Labrador City, according to an environmental assessment bulletin from the Department of Municipal Affairs and Environment.

The development was registered for an environmental assessment with the department on Jan. 30.

The bulletin indicates the company is planning to locate the microbrewery, which will have an annual maximum production of 85 hectolitres, in the lower level of an existing building at 211 Drake Ave.

The beer will be sold by the keg to customers in the surrounding area, the bulletin states.

The proposal has a March 7 deadline for public comments and Municipal Affairs and Environment Minister Eddie Joyce’s decision is due by March 16.
