LEWISPORTE, NL – A & B Construction Ltd. is proposing to develop an aggregate quarry near Lewisporte.
According to an environmental assessment bulletin from the Department of Municipal Affairs and Environment today, May 10, the 10- to 15-hectare quarry, situated within a 28 hectare area, is located three kilometres south of Lewisporte and roughly half a kilometer east of Route 340.
The quarry, which would be accessed via an existing road, would involve the excavation and removal of aggregate deposits using excavators and loaders from May to December over an approximately 10-year period.
The deadline for public comments is June 14 with the minister’s decision due by June 24.
