“What it means is, if a business management graduate from Keyin completes the final year in Ireland, they will have their honours degree in business,” Keyin College president Ralph Tucker told the Advertiser.

The designation from Dublin Business School is the equivalent to a four-year university program degree.

Tucker says the “intensive two-year courses” offered at Keyin run year long, so ultimately students do the same amount of work as their university counterparts.

He says the deal has been two years in the making. However, once the two schools and the province examined the requirements and adjusted the curriculum, a deal was set.

“Hour to hour we are pretty close,” said Tucker. “Based on the curriculum and the hours…, they determined our students would only need to finish the final year at

Dublin.”

Students completing Keyin’s two-year Business Management, Business Information Technology, Business Management/Human Resource Management, or Professional Business Accountant programs, will be eligible for a third year of studies at the Irish school.

“This is an exciting partnership with an extremely prestigious college in Ireland,” said Tucker. “It offers a unique opportunity for students at Keyin College to obtain a diploma in one country and a degree in another.”

Dublin Business School (DBS) is an independent provider of higher education and professional training and part of the larger Florida-based education corporation, Kaplan, according to information on the school’s website.

Located in the centre of Dublin city, DBS provides a range of undergraduate, graduate, professional and executive education programmes in the fields of Business, Arts and Law.

The school has four faculties, which include the faculties of Arts, Business, Law, Professional Schools and the English/European Business School.
