Aug. 26 was the 4th Annual Convenience Store Day, and in Port aux Basques, North Atlantic allowed community volunteers to participate in aid of the Children's Wish Foundation.

•    C-Store Day is recognition of the entrepreneurial spirit of local convenience store owners and operators; their hard work and the economic contribution they make to communities; and their community support through donations, sponsorships and volunteer work.
•    There are about 2,800 convenience stores in Atlantic Canada.
•    Total sales are about $5.3-billion.
•    Atlantic Canada’s convenience industry employs about 26,000 individuals full- and part-time.
•    A convenience store is defined by its local area and primarily exists to serve it local neighbourhood...the convenience store is a valued service in many communities throughout Atlantic Canada, and an important part of the “community fabric.”
•    For many newcomers to Atlantic Canada, the convenience industry is an opportunity to own a business and to be an integral part of the communities where owners, and their families, live.
