ST. JOHN’S, NL – Draft guidelines identifying the information that must be included in an environmental impact statement for Search Minerals Inc.’s proposed Foxtrot rare earth element mine in Labrador have been released.
The guidelines were prepared by the environmental assessment committee.
The proposed mine, located southeast of Port Hope Simpson, would have an estimated mine life of 14 years. The first eight years would be open pit mining while the last six would be underground.
The public is invited to review the guidelines and provide written comments by May 30.
Comments received will be reviewed and considered before the EIS guidelines are finalized and issued to the proponent.
