The company is planning to build the facility next to the existing fish processing plant where the former ground fish rendering plant was located.

An existing building on the site will be used while a 15-metre diameter water treatment holding tank will be constructed.

The project must follow a number of conditions.

They include:

- Effluent and wastewater must disposed of in a manner so that it is inaccessible to insect and animal pests and so that the water supply for the establishment does not become contaminated.

- The proponent shall not dispose of offal within a 20-kilometre radius of a finfish site licensed under the Aquaculture Act.

- Floors in wet working areas shall be kept clean and thoroughly washed and disinfected daily.

- A Gender Equity and Diversity Plan must be submitted to and approved by the Women’s Policy Office prior to the start of the project.
