ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Husky Energy has announced it has pushed back the planned tow-out date for the West White Rose’s Concrete Gravity Structure (CGS).
The CGS presently under construction in Argentia was to be towed out in 2021. Friday the company said that has now been moved to 2022
Husky said the decision came after a regular review of the project’s progress
“While we considered accelerating work to maintain the 2021 tow-out date, it would have resulted in substantial cost escalation with no guarantee of success,” a company spokesperson said. “We made a prudent decision to move the CGS tow-out into 2022, which will allow us to better pace the work.”
All project engineering and planning continues, as does fabrication and construction.
“We may adjust timing of certain scopes of work to better align with the new schedule,” Husky said. “We are still projecting first oil in 2022, but it will be later in the year.”
