“That’s something I’m trying to move forward with,” said owner Brendan Gaulton when asked about the inclusion of accessible taxis to Radio Cab’s fleet.
Gaulton said he hopes to have three vehicles serving the entire Burin Peninsula region right to the Goobies intersection.
He added people will be able to book the vehicles to travel around town the same as any other taxi.
“I have other plans … if there is a bunch of people that want to go to St. John’s to do some Christmas shopping, I can pick them up as a (group).”
Gaulton said he is currently exploring funding under a program with the provincial government but hopes to start the service soon.
“Within the next six to eight weeks there’s going to be a service offered in Marystown to (people with disabilities) by Radio Cabs.”
Gaulton purchased Radio Cabs in May. Since then he has added a shuttle bus and limousine services.
