In an announcement Monday at the NCR Ocean, Coastal and River Engineering Building on Arctic Avenue in St. John’s, Paul Antle, chairman of the Turning the Tide Marine Industry Awards, revealed the names of this year’s recipients.

Receiving the Industry Leadership and Excellence Award will be Atlantic Towing Ltd., while the family of the late Chesley Penney Sr. will accept the Industry Lifetime Achievement Award in his honour.

The Award of Historical Marine Significance will recognize the heroic efforts of Capt. William Jackman, who on Oct. 9, 1867, personally rescued the 27 occupants of a fishing schooner in distress at Spotted Island, Labrador.

The awards will be presented during a gala on April 19 at the St. John’s Convention Centre.
