Rosewood Suites in Trinity has received some help from the federal and provincial governments for a project to modernize and expand its facilities.
The business is receiving a $345,000 repayable loan from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency’s (ACOA) business development program for the recently completed project, according to a Sept. 10 news release.
The provincial Department of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation is investing $246,250 – $205,750 in repayable funding, a $4,500 non-repayable contribution from the business development support program, and a $36,000 grant from the Heritage Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador.
The upgrades will result in three full-time seasonal jobs.
“Trinity is a truly special place and this property in the heart of the historic area captured our imagination,” Rosewood Suites co-owner and operator Michele DuRand said in the release.
The Rosewood Suites property was originally built in 1910. The Heritage Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador designated it a heritage structure in 2016.
The modernization project involved the creation of nine luxury suites each with a living area, private bath and kitchenette.
“We are delighted to have restored such a unique heritage structure and now we can share Rosewood Suites with visitors from around the world,” DuRand added.
“We’ve had tremendous feedback from our guests who appreciate the quality of the restoration and how we retained the historical character but also provide modern conveniences and space to relax.”
