ST. ANTHONY, NL – White Metal Resources Corp. is planning an airborne geophysical survey on its Gunners Cove property, located north of St. Anthony, according to a news release from the company Nov. 28.

The new data will be used to better understand and define features that might host gold and potentially base metal mineralization.

Initial surface grab samples from the new discovery made in September of this year and follow-up sampling recently announced show a large area of anomalous gold and other metals associated with pyrite-nodules and pyrite stringers, hosted by black shale.

“We are very excited to begin the airborne geophysical survey on the property as we are confident that the new data will give us a better understanding of the structures and trends which may be associated with known gold mineralization and will help us develop new targets on the Gunners Cove property for follow-up diamond drilling,” White Metal Resources president and CEO Michael Stares stated.

The Gunners Cove property is easily accessible by local roads and trails. The company’s work to date in the area has highlighted a large area of anomalous gold values and extended the discovery area substantially.

The property has seen very little exploration work historically and is a recent prospecting discovery, adding to its importance.

Following the airborne geophysical survey and associated data processing and targeting, the company is planning to begin a diamond drilling program.

Targets will be based on a combination of regional and local geological knowledge, surface sampling to date, and results of the airborne geophysical survey.

Claims staked

In other mineral exploration news, Metals Creek Resources Corp. announced Nov. 21 it has staked claims on the Great Northern Peninsula.

The four claim blocks, totalling 242 units, are located near St. Anthony and is named the Great Brehat Project.

The claims are adjoining to the south and to the west of White Metals Resources Corp.’s new discovery.

The Metals Creek claims were staked to cover favourable geology similar to that of White Metals.

The junior exploration company believes it could potentially be a very important new discovery in a unique geological environment similar to other large gold deposits hosted in black shale environments around the world.

Metals Creek will plan an exploration program to evaluate the geological potential in the months ahead.
