LABRADOR WEST

In addition of the Spirit of Labrador, there were two other great events on Saturday 22. Gateway Labrador sponsored the farmers market, and the fall fair. Windy weather forced some events inside, but it didn’t subdue the spirit of those who attended.

At the farmers market there was produce a plant for purchase, many farmers from Happy Valley-Goose Bay were on hand with broccoli, carrots, potatoes, beets and much, much more. The local community gardens sold potatoes with the profits going to the local food bank.

For the young participants there was a small petting zoo. The fall fair was chocker-blocked with everything from jams and pickles, to mitts and crafts of all kinds. There was so much, they had to use space in both the Legion and the O’Brien Hall.

For lots of people it was a chance to stock up on great presents for Christmas, and purchase the finest of preserves and condiments.
