Listings should be typed, 50 words or less, and include the community in which your event is being held. You may also include one photo, if you wish, but it cannot be a poster. Listings will run in print as space allows, as well as and online each week. The deadline is 5 p.m. Mondays the week prior to the edition of the paper in which your listing will run.

Gander - St. Joseph's Parish RCW will hold a card game at 8 p.m. at the McCarthy Centre. Refreshments will be served and all are welcome.

Grand Falls-Windsor – Corduroy Brook’s 20th annual Family Fun Day 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Gibson’s Field. This free event includes sliding, bonfire, chilli, hot dogs, soup and more.

Point Leamington – Story Time program at the Point Leamington Public Library for children aged 0-5, every Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. To register your child, drop by or call 484-3541.

Botwood - Botwood Kinsmen Public Library Storytime Program takes place from until March 20, 10:30-11:30 a.m. for children ages 0-5. Join us for stories, rhymes, songs and interactive play. Drop by the library or call 257-2091 to register your child.

BLOOD DONOR CLINICS

Grand Falls-Windsor - Canadian Blood Services will be holding a blood donor clinic at the Pentecostal Church, Grand Fall-Windsor on Monday, Jan. 28, from 5-8 p.m. and Tuesday, Jan. 29 from 12-3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. There are 208 appointments to fill. Residents are asked to book their appointments using the GiveBlood app or visit blood.ca.

Grand Falls-Windsor - A community interest group that creates awareness about seniors and people with disabilities who can’t shovel their snow by encouraging people to nominate snow angels for draw prizes supported by businesses, community organizations, and individuals. @gfwsnowangel2018

Grand Falls-Windsor – T.U.F.F (Together Uniting Families Forever) for Moms and Tots takes place Wednesdays from 9-11 a.m. at Evangel Pentecostal Church. This program, for children aged 0-5 includes an activity and snack.

Botwood - Story time program at the Botwood Kinsmen Public Library for children aged 0-5, every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. To register your child, drop by or call the library at 257-2091.

Gander – Gander Public Library pre-school story time every Wednesday beginning at 2 p.m. for ages three to five.

Botwood - The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 5 Chase the Ace. Tickets are three for $5, and there’s a nightly 50/50 draw. Tickets sold 7-8:45 p.m. with the draw at 9 p.m.

Grand Falls-Windsor – Pre-school story time program for children aged 3-5 starts 10:30 a.m. at the Harmsworth Public Library. To register your child, drop by or call the library: 489-2303.

Grand Falls-Windsor - The Diabetes Education Clinic offers a drop-in service 1-4 p.m. Have your blood sugar, blood pressure and weight checked. Bring your diabetes-related questions to the nurse and dietitian. No appointment necessary.

Grand Falls-Windsor - Grand Falls-Windsor Volunteer Fire Department T.V. Bingo every Thursday evening at 6:30 on Rogers Cable 9. Cards are can be picked up at a convenience store near you in Grand Falls-Windsor, Bishops Falls and Botwood. Support your local fire department.

Gander - The Gander Seniors 50+ Club Inc. regular card games every Thursday at 8 p.m. This is open to members as well as the general public. The Gander Seniors 50 plus club is discontinuing Thursday afternoon bingo until further notice.

Grand Falls-Windsor - If you’re looking for a great organization that helps both locally and internationally, consider the Rotary Club. Find a friendly Rotarian and ask them about joining. Meets every Thursday 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the Mount Peyton Hotel.

Exploits Valley - The Central Nfld Antique Auto Club meets every third Thursday at 8 p.m. at Ibex Fuels on Hardy Avenue or the Creed Club in Botwood. For more information contact Bruce Critch at 257-3360. Check out their website at www.cnaac.ca. Having an antique auto is not mandatory.

Grand Falls-Windsor - The Seniors Friendly 50-Plus Club at 50 Main St., Grand Falls-Windsor holds card games Thursday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m.

Exploits Valley - River Gold Fundraising is a community fundraiser in partnership with three local service organizations: Corduroy Brook Enhancement Association, Exploits Valley SPCA, and Grand Falls-Windsor Heritage Society. An event each week with the deadline for playing being closing time on Wednesdays at store locations. Draw is every Thursday at the Royal Bank in the Exploits Valley Mall at approximately 7:30 pm to http://rivergold.ca/rg/.

Gander - YQX Quilters' Guild meets the third Thursday of each month, 7:30 p.m., in the Art Gallery of the J.R. Smallwood Arts and Culture Centre. New members welcome.

FRIDAY

Grand Falls-Windsor – Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 12, Queen Street Chase The Ace, 6-8 p.m. with the draw shortly after 8 p.m. Tickets are $5 each. There is a 50-50 draw as well at $1 a ticket.

Grand Falls-Windsor - Exploits Valley Community Coalition Car Seat Clinics held the last Friday of every month at the Family Resource Site (Family Moments) in Grand Falls-Windsor. Trained child restraint technicians will teach you how to install your car seat, and instruct you on the proper safety installation recommendations of your child’s restraint system. Exploits Valley - Exploits Aboriginal Community Group (EACG) hosts Bernie's Puktew every second Sunday from 6-7:30 p.m. This is a youth group and is led by the interests of the youth in the community. Activities are centered around the Mik'maq culture and include drumming, songs, talking circle, traditional crafts and cultural teachings. Any family in the community interested in learning more about the Mik'maq culture or just want to celebrate and honour these traditions are welcome. For more information email eacggfw@gmail.com.

Grand Falls-Windsor - Chase the Ace lottery is held at St. Joseph’s Parish Hall every Sunday from 7:15-9:15 p.m.

Gander - Gander Care and Share Group (651-2001). Meets Sunday, Tuesday and Friday 8 p.m., Wednesday and Friday at 1:15 p.m. at Fraser Road United Church (side entrance). All meetings are closed except for the last Sunday of each month. This last Sunday is an open meeting meaning family and friends are welcome.

Exploits Valley - Central Cancer Survivors Choir practice 2 p.m. on Tuesdays at Memorial United Church in Grand Falls-Windsor. If you are a cancer survivor and enjoy singing, laughter, fellowship and the support of others who have had a diagnosis of cancer, please join us.

Exploits Valley - The Exploits Valley Crime Stoppers Branch is looking for new members. They meet once a month for approximately an hour and participate in three to four fundraisers a year that would require minimal volunteer time. DRUNK DRIVER ALERT

Gander - The Drunk Driver Alert Program encourages people to report known or suspected drunk drivers in time to avert needless injury or death. Anyone who suspects a driver may be impaired is asked to call the RCMP immediately at 256-6841, giving their location and a description of the suspect vehicle, including make, model, colour and license number, if possible, as well as the direction of travel and a description of the driver. The caller need not leave his or her name.

STATUS OF WOMEN

MADD

Gander – Gander and Area MADD, MADD Canada (Mothers against Drunk Driving) is a national charitable organization with chapters across the country, including one in Gander. MADD volunteers include not only mothers but fathers, friends, concerned citizens and young people who want to make a difference in the fight against impaired driving.
