Piers Evans, project co-ordinator with the Northeast Avalon Atlantic Coastal Action Program (ACAP), was guest speaker for ACAP Humber Arm’s Coastal Matters speaker series at Grenfell Campus, Memorial University in Corner Brook Thursday.
Evans, whose group is involved in a project to evaluate and improve the health of the Lundrigan's Marsh urban wetland in St. John's, discussed the development pressures on urban wetlands, restoration efforts and the importance of enhancing public awareness and building community and corporate partnerships.
In December, a plan was announced by the City of Corner Brook and the provincial government to protect rare plants found in the Wild Cove fen wetland area on the outskirts of Corner Brook.
