Lots to see and do at central’s first Agrifoods and Garden Show

GRAND FALLS-WINDSOR, NL – Looking around the transformed Joe Byrne Memorial Stadium in Grand Falls-Windsor over the weekend, you would never think it was the same place where hockey is played and figure skaters twirl and glide.
Hay bales, corn stalks and decorations at the first Agrifoods and Garden Show in central Newfoundland made people believe they were well outside an arena during the weekend-long event, hosted by the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Agriculture

Booths made to look like old store fronts and smells of delicious foods mixed with farm animals were part of the ambience. The event included an on-site farmers’ market, a petting farm, a Grade 5 spelling bee, yummy food, lots of play spaces, and Moonica the cow.
Funding for the show was provided by Growing Forward 2, a federal-provincial-territorial initiative.
