The Association of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (ARNNL) Education and Research Trust awarded over $60,000 in scholarships and bursaries last week.
Two awards ceremonies were held – one in St. John’s on Friday, Dec. 8, and another in Corner Brook earlier in the week.
In all, 64 registered nurses (RNs) and nurse practitioners (NPs), and 11 nursing students were recognized.
Over 1,300 scholarships and bursaries have been awarded by the trust since 1986.
This year’s recipients are pursuing undergraduate nursing education, masters and doctoral degrees, nursing research, post-basic courses, specialty certification, and attending continuing education events such as conferences and workshops.
“As the regulator of the profession, public protection is our top priority,” said ARNNL executive director Lynn Power.
“We believe in advancing nursing excellence, and recognize the role that Trust support can play in helping develop competent, accountable professionals through continuing education and other opportunities.”
