Citizens of this coastal Newfoundland town, like citizens all across the province and Canada, gathered on Remembrance Day to pay their respects to veterans on Remembrance Day.
Before heading to the cenotaph, the community gathered at St. Pius X Church for a service of Remembrance.
From there they paraded to the war memorial, to place wreaths.
For this community, Remembrance Day is especially poignant. In December, 2008, Pte. Justin Jones who was killed during acive duty overseas.
On Nov. 11, as they honour all veterans, the people of Baie Verte especially remember Pte. Jones.
At the end of the wreath-laying ceremony, people removed the poppies from their lapels to pin them on the cross, each one to honour and remember the young soldier.
