HARBOUR GRACE, NL — An 18-year-old from Carbonear who was in trouble with the law earlier this year for allegedly trafficking cocaine and marijuana was arrested again last week.
Austin Keels was charged with assault, mischief by damaging property and two counts of failure to comply with a recognizance. According to Harbour Grace RCMP, police responded to a call Feb. 19 from a female alleging Keels assaulted her and damaged her car. He was arrested following an investigation.
In January, Keels and 20-year-old Mateo Brewer were arrested and charged with two counts each of possession of a controlled drug for the purpose of trafficking. According to a news release, those charges were laid after police searched a Carbonear home and seized cocaine, marijuana, cash and a prohibited firearm. Brewer is facing additional weapons-related charges. Both of the accused were released with conditions.
A bail hearing for Keels is scheduled for Thursday, March 1 at Harbour Grace Provincial Court.
