People bundled up against the chill with winter coats, hats and mittens.
As the sounds of the drums of the 21 Preserver Sea Cadet Corps band drifted along Water Street the red coat of Cst. Rob Gamache stood out, leading the parade.
As people entered the memorial grounds, some were heard to say that if soldiers could brave much harsher conditions, we could brave the cold wind for a short period to respect them.
The ceremony was led by Legion President Law Power and followed the traditional format with the reading of the names on the memorial, followed by Last Post and prayers.
Many wreaths were laid on behalf of local, provincial and federal governments, the RCMP, Legion, Sea Cadets, service groups and families.
After the firing party volleys and final prayers residents were invited to place their poppies on a wooden cross in front of the memorial.
