CLARENVILLE, N.L. — Police in Clarenville have charged a pair of drivers for traveling at a rate double the posted speed limit.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, May 22, RCMP say police were out on patrol this past Monday, May 20.
According to police, at about 10 p.m. on the Trans-Canada Highway near Clarenville, RCMP observed two vehicles traveling at an excessive speed.
Police captured radar readings of more than twice the posted 70-kilometres per hour speed limit.
The drivers, who were traveling together, were both 19-year-old men. One man was from Terra Nova and the other man was from Glovertown.
Both men were charged under the Highway Traffic Act for exceeding the posted speed limit by more than 51 kms/hr and were issued driver’s license suspensions.
Police also seized and impounded both vehicles.
