Counterfeit cash circulating in Grand Falls-Windsor area

RCMP advise of three local businesses where $100 counterfeit bills were used

The story of a person who died in a vehicle fire in a wooded area near Deer Lake is another example of tragedy dotting the early part of our list. RCMP were alerted to the blaze in July.

On Monday, Jan. 21, Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP received separate reports from three local businesses of counterfeit $100 bills being used.

Police have seized the bills and are currently investigating these incidents.

The RCMP reminds businesses to closely examine large bills before accepting them as payment to ensure all security features are present and not compromised.
