CARBONEAR, NL — Those needing to see a doctor in the Trinity-Conception area will have an extra option available for the next little while.
On Thursday, Eastern Health announced it will operate family medicine evening clinic at Carbonear General Hospital beginning Monday, March 26. There has been a noticeable shortage of family doctors in the Trinity-Conception area as a result of recent retirements and relocations.
“Eastern Health is actively recruiting physicians for the Conception Bay North area,” the regional health authority said in a statement released to media. “In the interim, residents of the area who do not currently have their own family physician will be able to seek the medical advice of a physician without having to visit the local emergency department. Patients are advised that this is a temporary service and there is no guarantee of ongoing care by the same physician.”
Clinic will open Monday-Friday from 5-9 p.m. Patients will only be able to access this service by appointment. Eastern Health is asking residents to call 945-5059 from 1-4 p.m. to book an appointment.
