BAY ROBERTS, NL — Bay Roberts RCMP charged one of the men arrested Saturday afternoon in what police called a high-risk takedown.

The accused, who allegedly brought a gun inside a bar several hours earlier, is facing a single-count charge of carrying a concealed weapon. Local Staff Sgt. Brent Hillier told The Compass other charges are pending. The man was released with conditions and will make his first court appearance April 11.

Police in Bay Roberts were called to a bar in the early hours of Saturday, and a subsequent investigation led officers to a white van. Two men were initially arrested during the high-risk takedown on the Conception Bay Highway. The second suspect was released without being charged.
