GATINEAU, Que. — Gatineau police confirmed today, April 17, they have discovered the body of Ian Lambert.

The 46-year-old, originally from Southport, Trinity Bay, NL, went missing in Quebec nine weeks ago, on Feb. 16.

He was last seen walking away from a house party in the Plateau District of Aylmer that evening.

Following his disappearance, family and friends set up a Facebook Page “Finding Ian Lambert” posting appeals to the public to help.

According to Const. Andree East of the media relations of Gatineau Police Service, the police received a call around 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, from an individual who had discovered a body on a bike path in the area of Aylmer.

Const. East confirmed they were able to identify the body as that of Ian Lambert.

“Now we are investigating in collaboration with the coroner’s office,” East told The Packet.

She added they don’t suspect the death was a result of criminal acts. An autopsy is being conducted today, April 17.

Police say, out of respect to Lambert’s family, further details will not be released.
