DILDO, N.L. — Last week, we asked your opinion on the whole "Jimmy Kimmel for mayor of Dildo" coverage and you answered, many of you with your own responses.
Nearly 84 per cent of the respondents felt the attention from the late-night ABC talk show host was a good thing for the Trinity Bay town and the province as a whole.
"it's been 100% positive...and Americans generally dont have a stereotype of NLer," one person answered.
A shade less than 13 per cent felt it has only served to spread stereotypes about Newfoundlanders, but that number might be higher since a large number of the "Other votes" were critical of the light it has cast.
"I think it great he shows an interest but it kind of making us look like idiots," one submitted.
"Jimmy is using Newfoundlanders to make us look stupid for his personal gain," another suggested.
"Signs should be removed sooner rather than later," one respondent stated.
There were also a fair number of responses from people who are just tired of reading and hearing about it from local media outlets.
"I am so sick of listening to it on the news truthfully now. Enough is enough," contends one voter with another adding that, "It’s getting to be a little much now. Not that much of a big deal."
