BOTWOOD, NL – The elusive ace of spades was finally caught on Dec. 27 at the Royal Canadian Legion in Botwood.
Botwood resident Pauline Sceviour Pardy collected her draw prize of $6,802, then drew the ace of spades to claim the jackpot of $56,899.40 for a combined total of $63,701.40.
The winner of the 50/50 ticket draw was Nancy Curtis of Grand Falls-Windsor, who took home a prize of $8,318.85.
With the Legion, Kin Centre and fire hall selling tickets and full to maximum capacity, the Botwood Lions Den was also enlisted as a gathering place for people waiting for the ticket draw.
The Legion, which will start a new Chase the Ace fundraiser in the new year, appreciates the people who supported the fundraiser, the organizations that provided use of their buildings, and the firemen for providing traffic control.
