ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Election Newfoundland and Labrador reports that 21,289 voters cast ballots in advance polls around the province yesterday. That's about 6.1 per cent of total eligible voters.
In 2015, 21,429 electors voted during the advance poll, a difference of 140 votes.
Turnout was higher, on average, in urban areas versus rural. Just one district — Topsail - Paradise, where PC incumbent Paul Dinn is challenged by the Liberal’s Patricia Hynes-Coates and NL Alliance candidate Lori Best-Moore — saw a turnout in the thousands with 1,150 of the 10,375 eligible voters showing up.
