LEWIN'S COVE, N.L. — A 42-year-old man from Garnish was arrested and charged for an alleged DUI offense Sunday on the Burin Peninsula.
Around 1:15 p.m., Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers on patrol in Lewin's Cove suspected the driver of a vehicle they were traveling behind to be impaired.
Upon conducting a traffic safety stop, police observed open alcohol in the vehicle. Back at the detachment in Marystown, he provided samples above the legal limit.
The man's license was suspended and his vehicle impounded. He was released from custody with an order to appear before a provincial court judge in Grand Bank at a later date.
