Canada 150 Skating Day this Sunday

Communities across the country are celebrating the conclusion of the Canada 150 year this Sunday, Dec. 10, with a massive nationwide skating party.

More than 300 communities in all are taking part in Canada 150 Skating Day, including many in Newfoundland and Labrador.

A list of arena’s where events are being held can be found on the Government of Canada’s website.

While the list may not be complete, skating events in this province will take place at the Bill Chaplin Arena in Wabush, Bruce II Sports Centre in Port aux Basques, Danny Cleary Harbour Grace Community Centre, Gros Morne Complex in Rocky Harbour, Iceberg Arena in Joe Batts Arm, Lewisport Stadium, Mile One Centre in St. John’s, Siki Bennett Memorial Stadium in St. George’s, Straits Arena in St. Barbe, Twin Towns Sports Complex in Port au Choix and the Bay Arena in Bay Roberts.

The Mile One event is one of 17 flagship events being organized across the country by Skate Canada.

There is also an event confirmed for Fortune Arena on the Burin Peninsula.
