Carter’s Cove man sentenced to jail time, driving prohibition for impaired driving in relation to 2018 incident

GANDER, N.L. — On June 24, 2018, at approximately 3:30 a.m., Twillingate RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision in the community of Chanceport.

The suspect vehicle collided with a second vehicle, causing injuries to an 18-year-old woman, before fleeing the scene. The driver, 21-year-old Colton Legge of Carter’s Cove, was charged with impaired driving causing bodily harm.

Legge appeared in provincial court in Gander Monday, Feb. 11. He was convicted of impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm and sentenced to five months in jail, two years probation and three years driving prohibition. He was also convicted of failure to stop or remain at the scene of a collision where persons were injured and sentenced to two months in jail to be served concurrent to the other jail sentence.
