Ches Crosbie has won the Windsor Lake byelection.

The PC Leader won the first election of his political career Thursday, after a hard-fought race against Liberal candidate Paul Antle and NDP candidate Kerri Claire Neil.

Elections Newfoundland and Labrador reports the results from 37 of the districts 38 polls show Crosbie receiving 1,850 votes, Antle receiving 1,648 votes and Neil receiving 856 votes.

The byelection campaign started on Aug. 22, one day after former Liberal Finance minister Cathy Bennett resigned her seat in the House of Assembly.

Crosbie will be sworn in as a Member of the House of Assembly in the coming weeks.
