ST. JOHN’S, NL – The Office of the Child and Youth Advocate announced two investigations and a review are underway involving matters that fall under its jurisdiction.

One of the investigations is looking into the Department of Children, Seniors and Social Development’s management of contract compliance for contracted residential services.

The other investigation involves the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District’s actions related to teacher conduct and student safety.

As well, a review of the Department of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour to identify current practices related to any recovery or clawback of child support payments from Income Support amounts has also been called.

According to the office, the two government departments and the school board have been formally notified.

Due to the sensitive nature of the investigations and to maintain investigative integrity, the office says no further information will be provided at this time.
