Loblaw Companies Ltd. has recalled a pre-packaged cooked shrimp product that was sold nationally.
According to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, (CFIA) the recall is due to the potential presence of raw shrimp, which could contain harmful bacteria.
The Pacific white shrimp were sold at several Loblaw banner locations in Atlantic Canada including Atlantic Superstore, Dominion, Independent, No Frills, Wholesale Club and affiliated independent stores.
The shrimp, which come in packages weighing 300 grams containing 56-65 shrimp per pound, have the product code ‘2018 OC 20: PM AP’ and the UPC ‘0 60249 00927 1’.
To date, no one has reported becoming sick after consuming the product.
Anyone who has the recalled shrimp should throw it out or return it to the store where it was purchased.
