Glen Freake, 40, was arrested on Aug. 16 and charged with two counts of uttering threats — one against staff and the other to cause damage to hospital property. He’s also charged with two counts of failing to comply with the conditions of a court order.

He was released on an undertaking that same day.

Freake, who is hearing impaired, was assisted during a hearing on his application for the return of his property in provincial court by a translator who appeared via videoconference from St. John’s.

The items he was seeking to have returned included a laptop, iPhone and charger. While Freake said police had also seized a hard drive and camera, those items were not specified by Crown attorney Adam Sparkes.

After a brief adjournment Sparkes said the Crown was consenting to anything seized by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, save for a BB gun.

Freake will be back in court Oct. 23.
