ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Roni Ibrahim, from Syria, and Einam Mohamadain, from Sudan, were among the many people of different nationalities on hand at the Pius X Church Hall on Wednesday as the Association for New Canadians celebrated the Multiculturalism Week Global Tour with a host of displays and clothing that depict their former lives in their native countries.
Ibrahim wore Kurdish clothing that would normally be seen in northern Iraq, and Mohamadain wore bright clothing from south Sudan.
She said she hopes her country and that portion of the nation can reunite in the future.
The event featured entertainment, a fashion show and displays. Some of the countries that were displayed were China, Japan, Russia, Eritrea, India, Iraq, Syria and Libya, among a host of others.
