GRAND FALLS-WINDSOR, N.L. — A Royal Canadian Mounted Police traffic stop last Friday resulted in the arrest of a man and a woman in connection with thefts in the Grand Falls-Windsor region.
Police stopped the driver suspecting him to be impaired and say that evidence was obtained that lead to the arrest of the 31-year-old male and his passenger, a 30-year-old woman, in relation to several thefts of poppy donation cans in the area.
The RCMP's investigation also led to other theft-related charges from the local area.
The woman, who had an outstanding warrant for her arrest from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary in St. John’s, was held in custody. She appeared in Grand Falls-Windsor provincial court on Nov. 25, 2019, and was released on court-ordered conditions.
The driver, meanwhile, was taken to hispital where he provided a sample of his blood for analysis of drug impaired driving. He was released from custody and is set to attend court on the theft charges on Feb. 12, 2020 in Grand Falls-Windsor. The investigation into drug-impaired driving is continuing.
