At 11:03 a.m. on Monday, first oil was pumped at the $14 billion platform 350 kilometres southeast of Newfoundland.

ExxonMobil Canada president Carmen Mullins was joined by executive members of the Hebron team and venture partners from Chevron, Suncor Energy, Statoil, and Nalcor Energy’s Oil and Gas Inc. to make a call to the Offshore Installation Manager Paul Dwyer who confirmed the monumental event.

The company hit the milestone one month ahead of schedule.

It happened 20 years and 11 days after first oil was produced at the Hibernia platform.
