Holly Dwyer is the newest member of the Grand Falls-Windsor town council.

This is after she beat out eight other candidates in a byelection Tuesday night.

Dwyer picked up the lopsided victory after collecting 1,190 of a possible 3,689 votes cast by residents. Her competitor was Dave Canning who finished with 493 votes. Behind him was Chad Budgell with 486 votes.

The rest of the voting breaks down in the follwong order: Lori Hennessey (407), Terry O'Halligan (335), Billy Loveless (291), Kathy Oake (176), David Oxford (164) and Danielle Lynch-Lyver (147).

Dwyer first council meeting is scheduled for Oct. 1 at 7 p.m.
