Hynes-Coates wins Liberal nod for Topsail-Paradise byelection

Patricia Hynes-Coates has secured the Liberal nomination for the District of Topsail- Paradise, the Liberal party announced Thursday.

She is a former president of MADD Canada and is the stepmother of Nick Coates, who was killed by a drunk driver on Kenmount Road in 2013.

She’ll be up against Paradise town councilor Paul Dinn, who won the Tory nomination for the byelection on Nov. 13. Dinn beat out Conception Bay South councilor Darrin Bent for the nomination.

The New Democratic Party has yet to call for nominations for candidates in the district.

The byelection is expected to take place in mid –to-late January.
