BADGER, NL – The Town of Badger is at risk of flooding this weekend due to an ice jam on the Exploits River, according to an advisory sent out by the provincial government Friday afternoon, Jan. 26.
The level of water on Badger Brook is also high as a result of precipitation this past week.
A river monitoring system and an emergency management plan have been in place for Badger since major flooding in 2003.
The Department of Municipal Affairs and Environment is keeping in regular contact with the town and its emergency management partners, the advisory states, and continues to actively monitor the situation.
Information regarding water levels and other river data is available online on the department’s website at www.mae.gov.nl.ca/waterres/flooding/badger.html.
