ST. JOHN’S – The provincial government is aiming to increase the annual number of immigrants to Newfoundland and Labrador to 1,700 by 2022.
According to the Department of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour, the most recent data shows the province welcomed its largest number of new permanent residents last year at 1,190.
A news release from the provincial government on Monday said officials with the department and community partners recently promoted immigration to Newfoundland and Labrador at fairs in France, Belgium and Ireland that were attended by over 5,000 people.
“This helps spread the word about our beautiful home, a safe and welcoming place to live, work and raise a family,” said Advanced Education, Skills and Labour Minister Al Hawkins.
