Knife-wielding man arrested after threatening children in Grand Falls-Windsor

GRAND FALLS-WINDSOR, NL – A 19-year-old Lewisporte man is facing several charges after he allegedly threatened children with a knife at the Walmart in Grand Falls-Windsor.

The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1.

According to the RCMP, officers responded to the scene immediately and took the man into custody without any injuries or damage.

While other aspects of the incident are still under investigation, police say it has been determined the individual acted alone.

The man has been charged with assault, causing a disturbance and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace.

He is scheduled to appear in provincial court early next year.
