ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — A class of graduating cadets weren’t the only new members to join the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary this week.
Thanks to the generosity of local donors, the police force added two new Clydesdale horses to their ranks — Castle and Dobbin II, who’ll join existing RNC horses Dr. Rich and Harvey.
The new mounts were announced as a passing of the reins ceremony at the RNC stables on Government House Grounds on Thursday morning.
Dobbin II was donated by philanthropist Elaine Dobbin while Californians Jim and Beverly Zaleski donated Castle, named after their caste-like home in Logy Bay.
We are pleased to introduce the newest members of the RNC #MountedUnit, Dobbin II and Castle, joining Dr. Rich and Harvey. Thank you to Ms. Elaine Dobbin, as well as Mr. and Ms. Jim and Beverly Zaleski, for your donations to the RNC Mounted Unit. #Clydesdale #MountedUnit pic.twitter.com/zQ2H1x5Aoh
