ST. JOHN’S, NL – Residents, councils and committees in the province have a little more time to share their thoughts on municipal legislation.

Municipal Affairs and Environment Eddie Joyce announced today, Jan. 17, the deadline to submit feedback on the modernization of municipal legislation has been extended to Jan. 31.

The provincial government announced public consultations to modernize the Municipalities Act, 1999, the City of St. John’s Act, the City of Mount Pearl Act and the City of Corner Brook Act in December.

The consultation process aims to help ensure the province’s municipal legislative framework is modern, enabling, less prescriptive, and meets the needs of today’s cities and local governments.

The public is encouraged to contribute by visiting EngageNL.ca or by emailing [email protected]. Submissions can also be mailed to the department.
