As the family and friends of Jorden McKay prepare to say their last good-byes to him today, there is still no indication of how long it will take to investigate his shooting death.
Mr. McKay, 27, died in the early morning hours of Nov. 28, shortly after two Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officers went to his Corner Brook residence.
According to the RNC, Mr. McKay was shot by one of the officers during a confrontation, although no details of that fateful struggle have been disclosed by police.

The shooting is being investigated by the Ontario Provincial Police, as per RNC protocol when a situation involving one of its own members has to be investigated.
A spokesperson for the OPP said Thursday there is still little else they will say about the ongoing investigation.
Officers from the OPP have been in Corner Brook to conduct interviews with anyone they feel can contribute insight into the case. Those officers are expected to return to Ontario late this week to continue with their investigation from there.
“As with any investigation, we can’t speculate as to any timelines as the evidence and information will take us where it leads us,” Staff Sgt. Carolle Dionne, the OPP’s provincial media relations coordinator, told The Western Star via email.
Mr. McKay had a criminal record and had some matters outstanding before the court. All of those matters were called at provincial court in Corner Brook earlier this week and formally withdrawn in light of his death.
A funeral service is being held for Mr. McKay this morning.
