Police responding to a report of a motorist stopped in the roadway on the Trans-Canada Highway near Grand Falls-Windsor discovered the vehicle was out of gas and the driver was allegedly impaired by alcohol.
The incident happened at approximately 9:10 a.m. yesterday, Sept. 23, according to a RCMP release.
A 22-year-old man from Grand Falls-Windsor was arrested by police and provided breath samples that were nearly three times the legal limit back at the detachment.
The vehicle was impounded by police for 30 days and the driver’s licence was suspended.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 19 to face charges of impaired driving.
