GANDER, N.L. — Break and enters are usually committed as discreetly and quietly as possible so as to avoid getting caught.

That wasn’t a concern apparently for the alleged perpetrator of an attempted break-in in Gander on Sunday morning, March 24.

According to an RCMP release, officers dispatched to Quimby Apartments to investigate the report around 8 a.m. discovered marks on the wooden door consistent with the tip of a chainsaw.

A 41-year-old man from Little Harbour was arrested in connection with the incident and charged with mischief and failure to comply with a probation order.

He was released from custody and will appear in Gander Provincial Court on May 14.

Police do not believe it was a random act, the release notes.
