GRAND FALLS-WINDSOR, N.L. — The Royal Canadian Mounted Police are investigating a pair of armed robberies that occurred Sunday night in Grand Falls-Windsor.
In the first, at approximately 9:45 p.m., a lone, armed suspect entered Quick Stop Convenience on Bond Street and demanded money. The suspect was confronted by the store — who suffered a minor injury — and fled the scene.
Less than two hours later, RCMP were called to Bride's Snack Bar on Lincoln Road where a lone, armed suspect entered and demanded money. Police say the store owner, who was working at the back of the store, approached the suspect and a confrontation ensued. As the suspect was fleeing the area, he was confronted by the owner and a customer, with the latter suffering a minor injury in the altercation.
It is unknown at this time if the two events are connected. The Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP District general investigation unit has taken over the investigations and is being assisted by the forensic identification unit and police sog services.
The investigations are continuing and police are asking anyone with any information or video surveillance of the area to contact the Grand Falls-Windsor Detachment at (709) 489-2121.
