On Thursday, Dec. 6, RCMP Traffic Services Central were on patrol in Georges Point and located an impaired driver just before 10 a.m.

A 59-year-old man from Clarke’s Head was arrested for impaired driving and provided breath samples more than twice the legal limit. A driver’s licence suspension was issued and he now faces impaired driving charges. He is set to attend court in February, 2019.

Just after 4 p.m., RCMP Traffic Services Central were out on patrol again in Georges Point. A vehicle was observed travelling more than twice the posted 50 kms/hr speed limit.

A 49-year-old man from Cottlesville was issued a summary offence ticket for driving more than 51 kms/hr above the posted speed limit and was issued a seven-day suspension of his driver’s licence.

RCMP NL say they are committed to highway safety and will continue with enforcement efforts of dangerous drivers.
